Titan X™ and Titan XL

Titan X™ Nylon Laminate Fabric Titan XL™ Nylon Laminate Fabric
Titan X™ is two layers of 500 denier solution-dyed CORDURA® nylon fabrics bonded together. Each layer is made of 100% high-tenacity 6,6 air-textured multifilament yarn. Compared to fabrics with similar strength ratings, Titan X™ weighs less and is specially engineered to be laser-cut. Featuring a plain weave and locked-in colors with lot-to-lot consistency, this nylon fabric is ideal for commercial or tactical applications. In addition, Titan X™ has infrared reflective (IRR) capabilities that make wearers less visible to night vision and IR devices. Titan XL™ nylon is our extra-strength polyamide laminate fabric, built for heavy-duty commercial and military applications. It is made from 500 denier solution-dyed CORDURA© nylon laminated to 1000 denier solution-dyed CORDURA© nylon. Each fabric is constructed from a 100% high-tenacity nylon 6,6 air-textured multifilament yarn. As a result, Titan XL™ is durable, tear-resistant, and engineered for laser cutting. All colors are locked in for lot-to-lot consistency, and it features a plain weave. Like Titan X™, Titan XL™ has inherent infrared reflective properties.
Key features of Titan X™ include:

  • Finished width: 58”
  • Weight: 17-18 oz/yd²
  • Tear strength: 45 pounds (warp) and 35 pounds (fill)
  • Breaking strength: 500 pounds (warp and fill)
  • Water repellency: hydrostatic resistance up to 250 psi and spray ratings of 100, 100, 90 (min)
  • Six color options, each stocked in 35-yard rolls: black, tan #499, coyote brown, wolf gray, ranger green, and multicam
Other features and properties include:

  • Finished width: 58”
  • Weight: 21-24 oz/yd²
  • Tear strength: 45 pounds (warp) and 35 pounds (fill)
  • Breaking strength: 500 pounds (warp and fill)
  • Water repellency: hydrostatic resistance up to 250 psi and spray ratings of 100, 100, 90 (min)

Applications for Military Material Fabric

Military equipment must withstand demanding field conditions while meeting specific performance and design requirements. Titan X™ and Titan XL™ provide durable laminate constructions that can be laser cut into precise shapes and patterns, making them useful as military material fabric for manufacturers producing specialized military and tactical equipment.

Depending on the application, these fabrics can be used for:

  • Load-bearing equipment: Laser-cuttable laminate fabrics can support the production of tactical equipment and load-bearing systems that require durable textile components.
  • MOLLE-compatible equipment: The laser-cut construction allows manufacturers to create attachment points and patterns for modular load-bearing equipment.
  • Tactical gear: Titan X™ and Titan XL™ can be incorporated into equipment where strength, water resistance, and durability are important. Their durable construction makes them suitable for applications requiring tactical nylon
  • Military bags and packs: Their high-tenacity nylon construction makes these laminates suitable for demanding carrying and storage applications.
  • Protective equipment: The durable fabric construction can support specialized protective gear and equipment covers.
  • Field equipment: Water resistance and durable nylon construction make these materials useful for equipment exposed to outdoor and field environments.
  • Specialized military components: Laser cutting provides manufacturers with greater flexibility when producing textile components with specific shapes, openings, and attachment patterns.

Titan X™ offers a lighter 500D-to-500D construction, while Titan XL™ combines 500D and 1000D CORDURA® nylon for a heavier laminate. This allows military and tactical equipment manufacturers to select a military material fabric configuration based on the demands of the finished product.

HLC Industries is committed to creating high-quality fabrics that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations and requirements. We produce durable fabrics with characteristics such as wrinkle resistance, water-repelling properties, and flame resistance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of equipment can be made with Titan™ laminate fabrics?

HLC Industries’ Titan™ laminate fabrics are used in a range of tactical and military equipment, including body armor, tactical vests, load-bearing equipment, equipment bags, protective covers, and rugged outdoor gear. Titan X™ is also used for soft packs, bags, pouches, uniforms, and weatherproof equipment.

Are Titan™ fabrics suitable for outdoor equipment?

Yes. HLC identifies Titan™ fabrics for outdoor and weather-exposed applications. Their water-resistant construction and durable nylon materials make them suitable for products such as weatherproof equipment, protective covers, tactical gear, and other rugged outdoor products.

How does solution-dyed nylon help with color consistency?

Solution-dyed nylon incorporates color into the fiber during the manufacturing process rather than relying only on dyeing the finished fabric. HLC notes that its solution-dyed fabrics provide locked-in colors and lot-to-lot consistency, which can be important when manufacturers need components and finished gear to maintain a consistent appearance.

Are Titan™ fabrics available in military-oriented colors?

Yes. Titan X™ and Titan XL™ are available in colors including Black, Tan #499, Coyote Brown, Wolf Gray, Ranger Green, and Multicam. These options allow manufacturers to select colors appropriate for tactical, military, and commercial equipment.

Does HLC Industries supply fabrics to military suppliers?

Yes. HLC Industries states that it serves contractors and manufacturers supplying the U.S. Armed Forces as well as militaries globally. The company manufactures fabrics in the USA and offers military, tactical, parachute, and commercial textile solutions.

Can manufacturers request physical fabric samples?

Yes. HLC recommends requesting physical samples of desired colors before placing an order because the appearance of colors can vary depending on devices, monitors, browsers, and viewing conditions. This can help manufacturers evaluate the actual material and color before committing to an order.
